The Bridgeport Conference Center is now taking applications for a Banquet Set-Up Captain!
 

Position Summary: To work hand in hand with the Banquet Managers, the Conference Sales Managers and the meeting planners in the direction, supervision & service of set-ups and audio visual technology in order to meet the needs for all banquet-related functions for both on and off premise events. This position will play an active role in the training and development of all conference center set ups and audio visual personnel. This is a key position sharing in the ownership and accountability of surpassing the guest experience expectations. General facility maintenance and housekeeping will also be the responsibility of this position.


Qualifications:
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs on a consistent and repeated basis.  This position will require heavy lifting.
  • Ability to be on your feet for the majority of the day.  This position requires walking, bending, moving, and lifting.
  • Must have a passion for serving people.

Requirements:
  • Reliable attendance
  • Punctual for all scheduled shifts 
  • Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit

Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding service to our conference and off-premise events on a consistent basis.
  • Take action and be responsible for the set up needs to include staging, tables, chairs, dance floors, base linens, and all audio visual and technology equipment for each event.
  • Lead the Set-Up Crew to ensure that events are set up correctly as well as efficiently.
  • Ensure a clean, organized and safe work area at all times.
  • Maintain equipment maintenance logs and service logs for all conference, audio visual equipment and the general facility.
  • Set up and continue to service beverage and snack areas/breaks as necessary.
  • Ensure all audio visual and set ups equipment is in good working order at all times.
  • Attend daily banquet event order meetings to review events.
  • Complete closing checklist for banquet meeting space at the end of each shift.
  • Inventory general maintenance replacement equipment such as light bulbs, basic tools and parts as necessary to complete set up.
  • Work with linen service company to ensure adequate quantities of quality linens as deemed necessary for all functions.
  • Work closely with sales and conference services staff in coordination of banquet events.
  • When necessary, handle any guest complaints in an effective and courteous manner.
  • Ensure transition from one shift to the next takes place effectively and consistently.
  • Keep copious notes of any happenings important and share with co-managers and supervisors.
  • Create an environment that promotes quality and teamwork while supporting the mission and interests of the Bridgeport Conference Center and Charles Pointe Hospitality.
  • Make sound judgment calls and decisions based on the principles of the Bridgeport Conference Center and Charles Pointe Hospitality.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager and/or Food and Beverage Manager.
  • As the scope of our business changes, so may the responsibilities of this position.
  • Adhere to all prescribed safety practices and procedures.

The Lead Set-Up Technician position appeals to an individual who enjoys working in a busy environment and is looking for a healthy mix between working with people and equipment.  This position works hand in hand with the Servers, Sales Manager, and Banquet Manager to ensure the quality and accuracy of set-ups and audio visual technology for all banquet-related functions.  This includes both on-site and off-site events.  While working in this position, you will be developed until there is a great working knowledge of conference center set-ups and audio visual requirements.  This position shares in the ownership and accountability of surpassing the guest experience.  General facility maintenance and housekeeping will also be a primary focus of this position.
